Cottonwood ~ Jackson Community Health Service (CHS)

 

The Health Service is located at 407 Fifth Street in the Jackson County Resource Center.  Enter through the north door (by the parking lot) and immediately take the stairs to the second floor, suite 409.  Some of the services provided to the residents of Jackson County include:  education, nutrition, screening, health and well being, and home health care services.  Ph (507) 847-2366 or 1-800-622-5207.

 

Jackson County Department of Human Services (DHS)

 

Located at 310 Sherman Street in Jackson.  Hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Services include emergency food assistance, daycare assistance/provider listing, medical programs and other services for those in need.  Phone (507) 847-4000.

To apply for free or reduced meals for children in school, please contact your school for an application.

 

Jackson Food Shelf  ~  F.A.S.T.

 

The Jackson Food Shelf is located in the First Presbyterian Church education building at 601 4th Street in Jackson.  Hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Phone (507) 847-4722.

 

Western Community Action

Western Community Action is located at 115 South Highway in Jackson.  Programs include Head Start, Big Buddies, energy assistance, Circles of Support and transportation - Jackson Heartland Express.  Phone 507-847-2632 or 1-800-658-2480 for additional information and ride scheduling.

 

Jackson Senior Dining

 

All seniors are welcome to Senior Citizen Dining.  Meals are served Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. Please make meal reservations at least 1 day in advance by calling 847-5884.  Located at 300 Third Street next to the Jackson Public Library.  Meals on Wheels is available by calling (507) 847-3100.

 

Jackson County Public Library

The Jackson County Public Library is located at the intersection of West Ashley Street and Highway 71.  It is part of the Plum Creek Library system with branches in Heron Lake and Lakefield.  Check their website using the above link or call for hours of operation.  During the summer months the library is closed on weekends.  Phone (507) 847-4748.

Jackson County Veterans Service Office

The Jackson County Veterans Service Office provides guidance and assistance to veterans, their dependents and survivors in applying for veterans benefits provided by the State of Minnesota and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The office is located at 407 Fifth Street in the Jackson County Resource Center.  Enter through the north door (by the parking lot), located on the 1st floor.  Phone (507) 847-4774

Jackson County Parks, Planning

and Environmental Services

 

This office is responsible for the Jackson County park system, planning and zoning, environmental services, local water planning, individual sewage treatment systems, GIS, Ag inspection, Board of adjustment and the Parks, Planning and Zoning Commission.  Phone (507) 847-2240.

Jackson City Police Department
